I thoroughly enjoyed this project - despite it being quite ambitious! The goal was to simply promote a location and illustrate a poster. It was geared toward real life applciations such as marketing and advertising. At first I wanted to do a fantasy place from a video game that I played, after being inspired by what others had done for the same project. However, I shyed away from wanting to explain it to my instructor, so I chose the two closet places to me: Ohio and Montana (one where I live and another where I have family). The ambitious part of theis project was essentially making two artworks in one - the state animal showing up from a distance, and everything that makes the state up when viewed up close. I was inspired from an AI trend years ago that involved taking an image (typically a meme) and redrawing it to look like a nature scene. The meme could only be seen if you blurred your eyes or stepped back. I had to divide my reference materials into shades of value, and then rely on linework and small shading differences to create the interior images (without messing up the larger image). Overall I am satisfied with each poster's ability to do what I wanted it to.
